Industry Honors Celebrate Lifelong Contributions to Concrete Preservation, Service Life Extension, and Infrastructure Sustainability

P+Ex is proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of its co-founders, Peter Emmons and David Whitmore, who have each recently been recognized with distinguished honors for their leadership and contributions to the concrete repair, preservation, and durability industries.

Peter Emmons, Chairman of Structural Technologies and Co-Founder of P+Ex, was recently elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC). Election to the NAC is one of the industry’s highest professional honors and is bestowed by peers upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advancing the effectiveness and impact of the construction industry. The NAC recognized Peter as a “Transformational leader driving step-change improvements in built environment repair, safety, quality standards, and workforce education while creating the world’s leading concrete repair enterprise.”

Around the same time, David Whitmore, Founder and President of Vector Corrosion Technologies and Co-Founder of P+Ex, has received distinguished industry recognition for the Michael Thomas Concrete Durability Award. This honor was bestowed by the ACI Board of Direction, for David’s decades of contributions to the advancement of durability in existing concrete structures by leading initiatives in extended service life and concrete repair methodology.

Together, Peter and David have helped shape a new vision for the concrete industry, one that emphasizes preservation before replacement, durability by design, and the critical role of service life extension in achieving sustainability goals. Through P+Ex, they have united owners, engineers, contractors, researchers, and industry organizations around a shared mission: preserving and extending the service life of concrete structures for the benefit of future generations.

“These recognitions reflect not only the accomplishments of Peter and David individually, but also the growing importance of preservation and service life extension as essential strategies for sustainable infrastructure,” said Lesley Ko, Executive Director of P+Ex. “Their vision continues to inspire collaboration across our industry and drive meaningful changes in how we design, maintain, and steward the built environment.”

P+Ex congratulates both co-founders on these well-deserved honors and thanks them for their continued leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing a more resilient and sustainable future.
